Tartu Urban Regeneration Workshops
Since 2012 Tartu College of Tallinn University of Technology has hosted US students in Tartu as part of their Study Abroad program. Daniel Hess, an Associate Professor from Department of Urban and Regional Planning of University at Buffalo, SUNY has been leading the course from the beginning. He is sharing his experiences as follows:
I very much enjoy the international collaboration that we are able to accomplish in a short time with the 48-hour planning challenge. I think it is an excellent education exercise that benefits students from Tartu College and the University at Buffalo. The students who participated last year still speak fondly about the experience.

Students from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo, work alongside students from Tartu College on a 48-hour planning challenge to create concepts to revitalize urban ares in the City of Tartu.
2014 was the third time this workshop took place. Students worked together in five teams with the main goal of improving mobility and connectedness between the main bus station and the harbor area to other sites, such as Old Town and the Song Festival Grounds, within Tartu. The students were supervised by both US and Estonian instructors. Within this fairly short time, some innovative concepts and designs were produced by the teams. A final presentation of ideas and concepts was held at the Tartu College auditorium on May 28, 2014. These concepts can be viewed at the following links.
